JT ARC STUDIO was established in 2007 as a platform for design research, architectural investigation, and dialog. The exploratory scope of the studio encompasses a wide spectrum of project types and scales ranging from residential, commercial, to urban.
Prior to establishing JT ARC STUDIO, John Tsai received his Master of Architecture with Distinction from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design and his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University, where he was awarded the Michael Rapuano Memorial Award and the AIA Henry Adams Certificate of Merit.
His previous work experience includes the offices of Frank Gehry and Pfau Architecture in San Francisco. He is a registered architect and a LEED accredited professional with the U.S. Green Building Council. John is currently an adjunct faculty in the graduate program at the University of Houston and has taught design studios at the Boston Architectural Center, Harvard University Summer Discovery Program, and is involved with the Wonderworks program at the University of Houston.
In addition to overseeing studio operations, Robert has directed efforts in ongoing design-build projects and speculative proposals. His extensive experience in commercial + residential design and construction has been invaluable to the conception of current projects in the office. His academic studio project pursuit while at the University of Houston entitled “Platform” was displayed at the 2014 Venice Biennale as part of the college’s “Risky Habit[at]” exhibition.
